The latest addition to the Lee Valley Regional Park Fisheries will open on Friday 16 March, Red Nose Day!

Banjo Lake in Stanstead Abbotts will be officially opened by Martin Salter, the Government spokesman for angling.  Extensive regeneration work has been carried out on Banjo Lake over the last twelve months and with just over five acres this mature gravel pit is a new Lee Valley Regional Park day ticket fishery for carp anglers.  The Lake has eleven formal swims available and is primarily stocked with Carp plus Rudd, Perch and Tench.  The water also has many underwater features including gravel bars, plateaus, gullies, tree stumps and expansive weed beds.

To celebrate the Lee Valley Regional Park's 40th Anniversary year 40 extra fish have been added to the Lake making a population of over 240.

A bespoke fishing competition will take place at the opening with guest anglers competing to catch the biggest fish of the day.

In aid of Comic Relief, Lee Valley Regional Park staff are holding a staff fundraiser to ‘Guess the Weight' of the biggest carp caught.  For a donation of £2 the staff member with the closest guess will receive a mystery prize!
