Weekly report by Marlene Mc Laughlin
Excellent conditions brought anglers out in large numbers to Cashel this weekend.
David Speirs (Scotland) had a great time with us using buzzers. He banked at least eight trout taking four of them home which weighed 11lb 9ozs in total. Eddie McLaughlin and 9 year old son Calumn (England) also took four trout home which weighed just over 8lb. Stephen Campbell and Peter Smith (Derry) took one each home averaging 2lb which fell to buzzers also. Gerard Doherty (Maghera) and Conor Rocks accompanied by his five year old son Darragh (Ballinderry) banked sixteen and seven respectively with Conor taking two trout home which weighed 5lb 3ozs in total. Billy Hazlett (Derry) bagged two at 5lb 11ozs and released thirteen which fell to sedges. Dungiven’s Mark Boyce released a total of eighteen trout over two short days. His trout fell to black/yellow lures. John Hasson also from Dungiven spent two short days releasing fifteen trout but unfortunately lost at least eight others. His trout mainly took the f-fly and suspender buzzers. Allan Mc Clune (Dungiven) and Roger Gibson (Ballyronan) banked six trout each with Allan taking two of his home which weighed 5lb 10ozs. Derry’s Paul Ford released three nice trout which took an olive and daddies. Franky Murphy (Feeny) bagged two at 2lb each and released four which fell to suspender buzzers and daddies.
River Licences are on sale at Cashel Trout Fishery.
