Fishery report from 22nd April to 12th May 2008. By Hadleigh Davies
It is advisable to book, but you will still be able to turn up on the day and fish it. You can see all my big fish stocked and caught, all of them weighed and videoed, on the internet and on the Office flat screen T.V. We have had 2 large fish out making a total of 231 big fish, have a look at every where else, I think there is not a Fishery in the Country that have had 231 Big fish out this year. There was a prize of a free lesson, Full day, Boat & Motor worth £100 for the 150th big fish caught By George Smith from Shrewsbury and there is now a prize for the 200th big fish caught, Well it was caught by Lyn Davies, so now we are having a prize for the 250th big fish caught will win the prize again. My stocking level is now a whopping 7654. With 204 rods taking 760 fish with a rod average of 3.725 fpr. We have been fishing brilliant last 2 months, this last week the hot weather has put the fish down a little. The evening rise has come on great, they start about 8.30 ish and the usual dries are the norm The fish are on the top and there has been some fly life hatching off with some Black midge and some olives Flies to try are Bloodworm, Buzzers, Diawl Bach, CDC’s Para’s and Klinks. Cats Whiskers and various leeches. We should see some great top of the water sport this coming month and right through to the middle of June. 1.) John Cook from Stourbridge took 18,22,17 fish all on Buzzers and Okey Dokey. 2.) Rob Bower from Ludlow took 13 fish all on Dries, Buzzers and Orange Blob. 3.) Simon Jukes from Craven Arms took 13 fish all on Dries, Buzzers and Orange Blob. 4.) James Coward from Wolves took a 10Lb fish on a Cats Whisker. 5.) Terry Adams from Shrewsbury took 25 fish all on Buzzers. 6.) Gordon Hollinger won the Trout Masters fish off with 17 fish all on Orange Fritz. 7.) Chris Russell from the Wirral took 27,14 fish all on Sedge Pupa. 8.) Roy Cadwalerder from Shawbury took a fish of 8Lbs4oz on a Dog Nobbler. 9.) Ernie Hall from Lichfield took 27,12 all on Orange and Natural Zonkers. 10.) Andy Cooke from Shrewsbury took 12 fish all on Orange Fritz and Sedge Pupa. 11.) John Finch from Bridgnorth won the Pensioners Competition with a fish of 7Lbs14oz plus returning 12 all on Apps Bloodworm Kid’s school on Sunday morning 10 until 12. Please put this in the paper. Free school for under 16’s every week Sundays at 10.00 until 12.00 they can come every week and learn to cast how to fish everything. If its raining we will teach them how to make flies and I will get some guest fishermen Charles Jardine and Karl Humphries etc and if we get enough kids they can have a competition between themselves or maybe against another junior club. They may even go for the England youth team. 273 Double’s. Have been stocked in the last 15 months I Videoed it, see it on line. 40 more due in the spring 273 Double figure fish have been stocked at Cound. We have videoed the events again for those who are sceptical, which is now showing on our T.V in the office for all to see. Cound policy on BIG Fish is that everything has to be killed, whether included in your bag where you take the fish home or catch and release where we keep the fish and donate it to local blind school or charity. I am now re-stocking every week what comes out goes back in (Including the Double’s). Watch this space.
