Environment Agency News Release No licences Six anglers received fines totalling £335 together with costs of £350 at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Monday (10 Sep) after pleading guilty to fishing without a licence. Terry Lomax of Trimley St Mary fished in the River Stour at Cattawade on 7 March 2007. Anthony Gutteridge of Basildon fished at Suffolk Water Park on 16 March 2007. Christopher Nelmes of Felixstowe fished at Kirton Lake on 22 April 2007. Daniel Sawyer of Gt.Blakenham fished at Barham 'A' Pit on 5 May 2007. Danny Scannell of Ipswich fished at Breakaway Fishery at Melton on 7 April 2007. The case against Luke Ramsey of Ipswich for fishing in the close season in the River Gipping in Ipswich on 7 April 2007 was proved in his absence. Environmental Crime Officer Rupert Pyett advises all freshwater anglers to make sure that they have a current licence to produce when they are fishing. Licences can be bought from any post office, a telesales service on 08701 662 662 or via the Environment Agency web site. Bailiffs patrol all freshwater fishing locations and can arrive without notice to check that anglers comply with licence requirements.
