KAYAK FISHING EXPERT PICKS PROWLER ELITE FOR SHOW TALKS

SOUTHAMPTON BOAT SHOW - 16-25th SEPTEMBER 2011

Kayak fishing enthusiasts will have a great chance to pick up some expert advice at this year’s Southampton Boat Show. Andy Benham is holding a series of master classes on how to fit out a kayak and he has chosen the Ocean Kayak Prowler Elite 4.5 for his presentations. This is the same kayak model which has featured in Andy’s practical series in Sea Angler magazine and Show visitors will be able to see first hand how the Prowler Elite 4.5 can be easily customized with added extras.

“For the first time at a Boat Show we will actually have a fishing kayak on display to accompany the talks so people will be able to push, prod and poke at the boat itself,” says Andy. “There will also be lots of pictures with detailed close-ups on things like fitting a fishfinder, rudder and anchor trolley so people can see exactly how things are done, particularly when they have just bought their first fishing kayak.”

The Prowler Elite 4.5, which is well suited to carrying kit and covering distance at sea, is one of Andy’s favourite fishing kayaks. “There is a lot of space on it, you have room to move around and it’s incredibly stable at anchor,” he says. “It’s also a really good boat because it has lots of inserts for attaching fittings like pulleys, cleats and lines or even a Minn Kota motor.”

The hull design of the Prowler Elite 4.5 is similar to that of the popular Prowler Elite 4.1. Both models have four flush mounted rod holders and rigid side handles. Other features include a comfortable seat back, generously sized rear tank well with bungee, 6” Cam Lock hatch and large bow hatch for the stowage of gear.

The talks take place at The Boat Clinic, Solent Hall, Solent Park on Friday 23rd September, 2011, at 12.35 and on Saturday 24th September at 12.40 and 15.40. Admission is free. The Prowler Elite 4.5, Prowler Elite 4.1 and many more fully featured fishing kayaks will be on the Johnson Outdoors UK stand H009, where a full range of recreational sit-on-tops, canoes and kayaks will be on display.
