News release from the Angling Trust

Following some heavy rainfalls during the previous week the Angling Trust and British Waterways Stillwater Championships second qualiifer match held at Boddington Reservoir on Saturday 7th July 2012 was now full and catches were expected to be better than in the previous round. The day was overcast with some heavy showers and a blustery wind making float fishing in some sections difficult. Some good carp were caught with several fish of over 6kg,  but for most of the anglers it was a case of a long wait between bites. The most successful method was fishing a method feeder with mini boilies, pellets or meat as bait. But a few anglers managed to catch on the pellet waggler especially in the higher numbers sheltered from the wind.

The natural bank section from pegs 96 to 105 provided most of the leading weights.

1) Top weight fishing on peg 100 was Eamonn Brennan (Skylark Ressies) with a weight of 62.640 kg. This consisted of 18 carp to 5kg taken on the pellet waggler.

2) Second was Gary Smith (Miracle baits)   fishing end peg 105 with a weight of 53.760 kg. Again carp on the pellet waggler and method feeder.

3) Third was Simon Harris (Telford) on peg 99 with 47.300.

4) Ian Hutton (Wellingborough) 40.860 kg

5)  Neil Russell (Greens Norton) 36.400 kg

6) Stuart Tinkler (Sidmouth) 35.020 kg
