The veil will be lifted on the world beneath and alongside the River Thames when a new six-part wildlife programme starts on ITV on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 7.30pm.

Thames Superhighway follows Miranda Krestovnikoff (you may remember her from "Coast") as she takes a journey along the River Thames from its source in a meadow in Gloucestershire to Southend on Sea in Essex, on a mission to uncover the secret world of plants, insects, fish, wildlife and birds, living in, on and around the riverbanks.

The programme was made with the help of the Environment Agency and each episode focuses on one section of the Thames where she will be discovering the range and diversity of Thames wildlife and exploring the kind of projects that are underway to monitor and protect it, including otter holt building, rod licence enforcement and electrofishing.

The six part series' programmes will show on the following dates:

6TH SEPT 2007
20TH SEPT 2007
4TH OCT 2007
11TH OCT 2007
18TH OCT 2007
25TH OCT 2007
