For those fishermen that need to travel to their destination by car before setting up for the day, expensive fishing tackle can be damaged unnecessarily if not transported properly. Thule, the world’s largest manufacturer of car roof rack systems, roof boxes and accessories can now solve this problem with the ingeniously designed Cast Away for transporting fishing rods.

The Cast Away which can carry up to four rods, protects the sensitive parts of the rod by encasing them in a small durable box. Rubber sides on the box seal the rods inside, preventing outside elements from entering and damaging equipment. The box is also manufactured from the environmentally friendly recyclable ABS plastic; a lightweight material proven to be strong and resilient even in the very worst weather conditions. The rest of the rod which emerges from the box is then securely attached to a bar at the other end of the car using an easily adjustable rubber strap – so ensuring that the entire fishing rod does not move.

The box and bar are easily secured onto Thule roof bars using easy to fit brackets and screws. No extra tools are needed to fit the Cast Away as all parts are relatively big and an allan key is provided.

The new Pacific Range of Boxes launched by Thule this year would be an ideal accompaniment. The boxes are available in five sizes and can be attached without the need for tools – using Thule’s patented Fast-Grip quick mounting system.

Both the Cast Away and the Pacific Range are also fully lockable – so providing complete protection for any precious equipment stored.

Peter Barker, UK General Manager, said: “Fishing is growing immensely in popularity in the UK and overseas. The Cast Away is the ideal method for fishermen to transport expensive tackle without the worry of damage to the equipment. It is easy to secure to the car, and just as easy to use”.
