Wellsfield Trout Fishery

Weekly Report for Week Ending 7th February, 2010

All 3 lochans are open for fly and bait fishing. 8am – 5pm.

The ponds have a huge number of fish in them for the time of year.  Many anglers bagged their limits this week as a result.  The key was fishing very deep and slow. 

Many specimen sized fish were caught this week including 3 double figure trout - 13lb rainbow T Henderson (Falkirk), 12lb rainbow D Alexander (Falkirk), 9lb 12oz rainbow A McComisky (Moodiesburn) 3 for 15lb. The fishery is constantly being stocked with many double figure fish.

Best Flies this week: Black/Green Fritz, Yellow Cat, Silver Humungus, Bloodworm, Black Buzzer/Cruncher. Best Bait: Orange or White  Powerbait, Worms and Maggots.
