Wellsfield Trout Fishery Weekly Report for Week Ending: 12/3/06

The fishery is now open till 6pm 7 days a week. The numbers of trout stocked is still increasing for the start of the new season on the 15^th March.  Some nice brown trout in the 2lb • 4lb range have already been caught and returned to the ponds in the last few days. A reminder to all river anglers that River Carron permits are on sale at the fishery cabin including various baits.

The fishery now offers a new discounted 8 hour Catch & Release Permit with a 10 fish limit using barbless hooks and fishermen can now fish 2 of the 3 ponds at the fishery including the middle fly pond.  Black & Green Fritz and Bloodworm being the best.  Average fish weight 3lb 3oz per trout.

One double was caught this week - an 12lb 4oz rainbow for C Liddle (Falkirk) on a Black Nomad his 3 for 20lb 8oz from the fly ponds.  D Ferguson (Camelon) landed a fine rainbow at 8lb from the bait pond using a toby, in his 4 for 20lb 8oz.  P Stevenson (Grangemouth) landed a 7lb 9oz rainbow from the middle fly pond using a bloodworm. Mrs Ina McKie lost a large double mid week from the bait pond.   1 Yellow Tag worth £50 was caught by lucky angler A Hamilton (Bannokburn) using a Yellow Dancer.
