Wellsfield Trout Fishery Weekly Report for Week Ending: 2/4/06

Bonanza fishing was had with many anglers having a red-letter day at the weekend.  The catch rates are sky high at the moment due to the increased pre-season stocking programme and many anglers bagged their limits over the course of the week.

The two fly ponds and the bait & spinning pond are fishing extremely well at the moment with many fish in the 3lb – 5lb range with a few larger specimens in the 8lb – 12lb range. The fishery is also now open till 7pm 7 days a week for evening sessions.

Four specimens were caught this week - a 12lb 12oz rainbow for G Petrie (Falkirk) on Damsel in his 4 for 24lb from the middle fly pond. Keith Hunter (Tullibody) had 11 fish in 3 visits for 40lb 8oz, best 8lb 8oz on Sunday. Martin Dempsey Junior (Banknock) landed a cracking 8lb 8oz fin-perfect rainbow on Tuesday in his 4 for 16lb 8oz.  D Smith (Camelon) landed a fine 9lb over wintered rainbow from the bait pond using a Taz in his 3 for 16lb.  1 Yellow Tag worth £50 was caught by lucky angler A Sharp (S’Muir) using a Green Damsel.
