Calling anglers from Yorkshire and the North East

All anglers across the Yorkshire and the North East region are being encouraged to have their say on national proposals that affect the way they fish.

The event, held at the Leeds City Hilton Hotel, on Saturday 5 September between 9am and 1pm will be hosted by the Environment Agency. There will also be guest speakers including Anglers Mail columnist Stuart Clough, the Angling Trust and staff from the Environment Agency.

Proposed laws are being consulted on nationally until the September 14th. Including proposals to remove the closed season from stocked still water fisheries, byelaws to regulate bag limits for coarse fish removal and fish passage for all species of fish.

The event will feed back the local views to the national proposals.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions to the guest speakers, and a free lunch will be provided for all attendees afterwards.

Steve Chambers, Regional Specialist in Fisheries for the Environment Agency said
"We want to give everyone across the region the chance to get involved and have an opportunity to influence the outcome of the national proposals."

Places need to be booked  - so for an agenda or to book email angling.event@environment-agency.gov.uk or telephone Alex Holderness on 0113 231 2419
