Every carp angler wants a hook that turns; it’s a fundamental part of our armoury to ensure a good hook hold when that fish of a lifetime swims by. There are a couple of ways to get this effect, and KORDA have designed a hook that does just this. By upturning the eye of the CHODDY hook by 25 degrees, it takes the strain off the mainline by removing the line ‘kink’ that occurs with a straight eye and allows a straight pull between the angler and carp when the pressure is on!

Korda Choddy HooksBecause the eye is upturned, the whipping of the hair sits tightly against the eye making it extremely unlikely to slip or break under strain, and when the hook is attached to the hooklink, it sits at a very aggressive angle which allows it to turn into the bottom lip of the unwary carp.

I like the Teflon finish to these hooks which dramatically reduce any chance of reflections spooking fish; having watched from a tree as carp shy away from shiny hooks, I’m convinced that it gives me an edge when it comes to fishing tough waters.

A short shank and wide gape give high tensile strength even though Korda use narrow gauge materials in the manufacturing process. Each batch is tested for sharpness and quality before leaving Korda, so you know you are getting a potent carp catching weapon.

Choddy hooks are fished helicopter style on a short stiff mono or fluorocarbon link to keep the bait clear of obstructions on the lake bed, and these are great for presenting your bait exactly where you want it.

Available in either barbed or barbless patterns, and sold in packs of 10, I got mine for £3.80 from Pickering’s of Burslem.
