‘Bagup’ on Spring Roach

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Spring is upon us and there’s no better time to be out roach fishing. The key is to be there at dawn to see rolling fish as location is critical. Fish as far away from the Roach as possible, they can be very nervous of movement on the bank.

Trickle ground bait in carefully; whether it’s bread mash or maggots, big roach will flee from just 5-6 maggots if the weather gets colder. Be sure to get on the river if the water is coloured and the weather is mild after rain and remember walk along the river or pond away from the waters edge as spooked Roach will not bite.
