Rake It In

I must admit I've only just become confident of this 'age old' advice for tench fishing. But now I rarely go tenching without a rake to put through my swim.

This can be particularly effective if the bites have tailed off. (Confidence in this method was demonstrated to me by my friend Paul - after 3 biteless hours he caught 3 tench and a 3lb crucian within 30 mins of re-raking his swim...)
