Here’s the introduction from the man himself, Rob Maylin, along with a list of articles you can expect to find inside.

Where the carp have no names!

Well, last month’s issue certainly went down a storm – another sellout issue!

I’ve got to admit, we’ve had some pretty good stuff in the mag this year. The mystery of the uncaught is certainly causing quite a stir and this month we’ve loads more of that, including a fantastic diary piece from Ed Betteridge who gets taken to one of these ‘special’ venues with none other than Mike Scott who wrote the short piece, with loads of photos, last month. Even Keith Jenkins’ piece features an awesome unknown 42lb mirror, so it’s really catching on.

Big Carp MagazineEd’s diary makes fascinating reading this month with loads of wall climbing, fence scaling, belly crawling and covert operations. Although very exciting, it’s not without its downside as ‘sleeping on the floor with a big slug on my face all night’ can’t be that much fun! But so beautiful, never before caught scaly monsters was the upside, so well worth the slug-slime moustache, in my opinion.

Speaking of Keith’s Made in England piece this month – it’s a belter. ‘Carp fishing liars exposed’ is the controversial theme, which was sparked off when last month someone reported catching three forty pound mirrors from the Thames. Not even in a lifetime – this guy reckoned he’d caught them all in the same afternoon! Keith’s an excellent writer and now exposes the other carp frauds in our midst. Shame on you all! Keith’s piece also shows all the latest big carp catches this autumn with some fantastic photos of about twenty forty-pluses, topped by a 59lb 5oz beast of a linear – definitely not to be missed.

Sean Leverett is on a mega roll down on the Roach Pit. If you follow me on Facebook you would have already seen some of his work, but if not, you are in for a treat as Sean has been consistently banking some of the most sought after and beautiful carp in the land – a mid-forty black beast, two bright orange forties, mid-thirty linears and a few fully scaled. The list goes on and grows on a daily basis. Read his and Ed’s exclusive diaries only in Big Carp. Thanks, gents!

Newcomer Chris Harris makes his debut with no less than a trio of forty pound commons from the same water, topped by a 49lb’er. Oh, and there’s a few forty mirrors thrown in for good measure.

Top of the shop this month though is our exclusive cover story with the loveable Jerry Hammond telling the full story of his long road to a fifty-pounder. Fraught with tales of disaster as his conquest starts at Wraysbury, Willington, etc, Jerry must have thought that the gods were against him and that it would never happen. This three part series is worth the cover price alone as Jerry tells the tale in his unique style, culminating in our cover shot, ‘Baby Face’. Now that’s a mag!

We’ve two new members to the Big Carp Rotary Letter team. Joining Dave Lane, Jon McAllister, Lee Jackson, Ed, Sean and me are two very controversial and great thinkers – Jamie Clossick and Leon Bartropp. These two extremely good anglers will make excellent additions to the panel and we are all very excited to hear what they have to say. Welcome aboard Jamie and Leon.

We have another two great series ongoing in the mag – firstly Craig Runham on the 400-acre Theale Lagoon has made fascinating reading over the past few issues and continues with more superb never publicised beasts. Secondly we have Mark Twaite, ‘The Traveller’, who has set up home on the Water Park and his new ‘tapes from the water’s edge’ series is brilliant, featuring many carp never before publicised, including a fantastic mid-forty common, taped live on the bank with Rob ‘Rags’ Morris. Once again, it’s original ‘cutting edge’ stuff exclusive and only in Big Carp.

As I just said, ‘Now that’s a mag!’
