For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, I'll give you a little taster of something slightly different from the norm….

You sometimes get books that are labelled as 'fiction', but, upon reading them, you realise that there's a very thin line between fact and fiction and, indeed, fiction is often just fact with a few names changed!

I'm not saying that Mark has definitely had or viewed experiences such as those narrated in The Syndicate (R.I.P.), but I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a high level of truth residing within this humorous work of fiction. Some of the characters are just too absurd to not have a hint of truth in them!

I won't spoil the pleasure for those who haven't read the first book, so please excuse me if I'm a bit vague;

Part II, funnily enough, carries on from Part I. Our 'hero', Matt, is back doing what he loves best, although this time he's got the benefit of a nice windfall to help him along. With this, he organises a trip to a virtually unknown water in France and, with best mate Rambo in tow, we follow two weeks of interesting entertainment. If only every session was like this!

The fish are 'mad for it' and the anglers are just….well, mad fullstop!

I found The Syndicate Part II a very entertaining read, one which was hard to put down. If you fancy a change from the usual instructional book, or those that chronicle an anglers career, then give both the original and Part II of The Syndicate a whirl - you won't be disappointed!

One last thing - Mark, if you read this and if Le Lac Fumant is really based on a real lake, let me know where it is, eh?!!
