When using bite alarms make sure the rod is in place, line tensioned and the
swinger/bobbin are set and settled before switching the bite alarm on.
Put your thumb over the speaker hole as the bite alarm is switched on and
tested.
Doing this will make sure fellow anglers are not disturbed.
