Has anyone experimented with the use of swimfeeders and groundbaiting from the shore? If so what have your results been.
I've used them to reasonably good results, normally filled wth mussels and other soft juicy baits -------------------- Wet The Reel!

Hiya,
firstly welcome to Anglers Net I've not used them from the shore but have used them in the past from the boat when targeting Spurs. Strange thing though, the rods not using swim feeders out fished the rods with at a rate of about 5:1 despite using the same bait and almost identical setup. -------------------- |

Hi et, davy
There is more on this topic on the other thread on "groundbaiting" but at the risk of repetition, I've used coarse anglers swimfeeders above the hook baits loaded with cotton wool soaked in pilchard oil in fairly calm conditions and its certainly brings in the flounder, coalfish, whiting and the odd codling. Does nothing for bass mind (sad to say). This is fishing western storm beaches facing the Atlantic. The only other ground baiting tactic that most shore anglers use is to wrap some old mackerel etc. around the lead and keep it there with elastic bands. I have seen people dig ground bait into beaches before competitions but I reckon you will only help the lads downtide of you! In non-competitive situations it does draw fish in, but in my )albeit limited) experience with this tactic, the fish are invariably small shoaling coalies and dogfish. FWIW... -------------------- |

Freind of mine freezes bait in an ice cube tray with a peice of line in.
He attaches the ice cubes to the lead using the line. |
