Hi all,
I am trying to buy some Plaice spoons but can't find any in Holland. I have tried Harris Angling but no joy. Does anyone know where I can buy Plaice spoons on line please. I only need a couple or 5 as an experiment. Tight lines Alan(nl) |

I also tried using tin, still not happy. Awkward so and so I know but I must be 100% confident with my terminal tackle and the spoons I used in the UK worked perfectly. Hence the hunt. Alan(nl) [/B] This is not a spoon point we all do it say we are not happy with some thing in fishing ( action presentation rigs) there is a point to this we are not fish because we do not like it dose not mean a fish will not like it. Why do we all do it As for spoons try a tea or table spoon I think that's the way thay where first made ------------------ Sheffield online sea fishing club http://www.sheffield.i85.net Darth |

Hi Alan,
You have probably sourced something by now, but for what its worth I have both succeeded and blanked using bought plastic spoons, home made, high tech ventilated metal ones, beads only and bare lines. The effectiveness is down to the perfect combination of clarity of the water, strenght of tide (or retrieve), flash factor of the attractor, size of attractor, distance from attractor to hook, bait and....all the other things we end up worrying about like weather, tide state, water depth...Happy experimenting! No wonder we don't empty the seas of fish with all those permutations of methods. I am sure the right one is out there somewhere. If you find it don't let me know - it probably wouldn't work where I fish anyway! |

I once saw a video of a spoon in action, as it was retrieved it gave puffs of sand from the sea bed. The speed of the Plaice attacking the worm was brilliant. The week before last I saw on Blue Planet another Plaice attacking its food, they realy are preditory fish. I found that when I had a touch and just let a little line out it worked every time. There are probably some expert Plaice anglers on here who will give further advice but the above worked for me. Elton gave a good site for the spoons and as soon as I get this B paypal sorted out I will be ordering. All the best Alan |

This spring I had more success with squid strip than worm. Probably due to the movement in the current and higher visibility. Same theory I guess.
