The coarse fishermen i know up in Scotland are catching very little at this time it seems this way from the first frost in Nov until April annually.

Bream & tench during the Summer
Barbel & Chub in the winter

I had 2 blanks during the summer out of 20 odd trips and so far 2 blank this winter out of about the same amount of trips. All the same to me.

Summer. It is warm, the smells remind me why I am out in the country, the anticipation as bubbles head for your float and the delight of a Tench surging away. Marvellous.

I just like to get out on the bank whenever I can.
Do like Early June as the Tench start to go on their feeding spree for a few weeks.

I am a barbel angler, but those summer evenings and nights are hard to beat, just for the joy of being there.
I mostly fish nights as well, for the most productive fishing, but catching one in daylight is much more enjoyable I think.
