I know some folks on here don't think highly of boats for fresh water fishing. But it really depends on where you fish.

This is a nice spot for fishing with plenty of places to set your rods up. Problem - by boat it's about a mile from the nearest place you can drive your auto. By land, about 15 miles and dense wood and hills.

These are also nice but only if you are fishing from the water. Bank is sorta unsuitable.

Peter - do you ever take pics when fishing the broads? I'd love to see some. I have no clue what that area is like.

Yes I do! Some parts are almost prehistoric, others are totally commercialised. I'll see what I can find for you. My history of posting pictures is nothing to be proud of!

For pictures that someone else has taken go to:-
http://www.suffolkcam.co.uk/oulton_broad01062002.htm
and then go to www.broads-authority.gov.uk and trawl round for some photos there.

To trawl round the whole of the Broads go to:-

But rarely fishing broads. biggrin.gif

Here is one from the outskirts of an area that can produce nice fish but is a little tough. The water goes back for at least ½ mile into the trees. They are a species that likes to grow in water. Fishing back in there can be great but the bug count is sorta high and the snake count is as well.

Dear Peter,

Broads almost prehistoric? Dug for peat were they not? Did they ever find Pete by the way?

Now if you want real prehistoric, then the Trent's the place to be. Iceageicle it is.

I've got a boat now Pete. Its called the "Bluebird" but I'm going to re-name it the Black Pig this year. Out of respect for that famous Trent piker Captain Pugwash. (In Cornish accent) "Avast there me hearties!! Barbel anglers on the port bow, give um a blast from the bilges!!" or "Run up the Jolly Rodger and lets ram that row of bivies!!"

Regards,

Lee,

PS, Newt, your river looks like that one in "Deliverence"

The Black Pig aye! The captain of which was Master Bates and the crew was Seaman Staines. I trust you will be maintaining those traditional seafaring names and titles!

By the way Lee, my local Broad is the only one that was formed naturally. A few years ago it was dredged and some very large flints came out and because of this some experts now suggest that the actual broad is very ancient indeed. Pre Peat infact!!
