Have you looked into travel spinning rods, rather than telescopic?
I reckon a multi-spigoted rod would be far better than a telescopic.
There's some pretty substantial travel fly rods out there so the technology is there.

I liked Leon Roskilly's Zebco telescopic quivertip. You felt every move the fish made.

Phil

I have to agree with Andy. I have one of the Shimano multi piece spining rods, it packs down more than small enough and the action is as good as many a two piece rod.
Of course these type of rods dont allow the rod to be kept "made up" and if that is what you are after I will keep quiet.

Phil, all of my fly rods are multi piece 3/4/6 sections. Had one or two for a few years too. For what its worth I've had little or no problem with wear on the joints. Modern materials and build techniques are so advanced that the extra joints have a negligible affect on the rods performance.
I havent used a telescopic rod for years other than a couple of whips that I use to catch livebait (for a friend of course ) But from what I can remember of them I'd be concerned about telescopic spinning or fly rods which are subject to the continual pressure of casting (assuming you want one for lures or fly) Someone's already mentioned the Shimano Exage. Nice VFM range of rods. Normark used to do a nice four piece too. Think it was the 'Bob James'

Phil
I paid about £50 for mine but I just had a quick search and the first place I found Wanted £42. Unfortunately I pressed the wrong button and lost it. But a quick search wil find a supplier.
Even at £50 I thought that I had bought a bargain.

No! The market has nothing actually new, revamped maybe, but not new. This sad state of affairs must be thoroughly depressing for tackle shops.
