Not far from Framlingham :

here is part of an email between me and maver :
Thanks for the info Kevin.

As far as I am aware only guests staying at Colston Hall can fish there now. It looks like they have expanded the place a bit. They can accommodate about 20 people there now on a B&B basis, as well as a self contained cottage for self catering. They charge £5 a day for the fishing.

I was really looking forward to going there in June, but after your e-mail I am positively champing at the bit now !!!!

I really love picture post card lakes, small(ish) and secluded with lots of trees etc, but it must have Lilies !!!!

I have been waiting SO long to fish a lake like this, gently dropping my pole float up against the edge of the lilies with a piece of meat, pellet or sweet corn on the hook, through to my No 14 elastic, cupping in some feed and waiting patiently for the float to slide away !!!!

Oh sweet dreams !!

I know I'll probably get snapped a lot, but I'll make sure I've got plenty of rigs made up & ready.

On a change of subject, if we manage to get together later this year, I'll take you to Gloucester Park in Basildon. Unfortunately it's a very popular water, so a midweek would probably be better, as would early morning (dawn). I've had over a 100lb of Tench (to 4lb), and Carp (to 8lb) on the pole just in 5 hours in the morning.

There are also some quality roach there with Rudd, Chub, Crucians, Barbel, Bream, and Perch all thrown in for good measure. The place is unreal. I've had 20lb of roach fishing through a hole in the ice !!!!!

Anyway must go now. Thanx once again on the lo down on Colston Hall.

Andy

What a place!

I was a member of FMS who had the rights for a few seasons.

The top lake is a gem.
One day I landed an 18lb Mirror carp from the swim near the house. I lost another 14 carp due to the lilys in under two hours. I have also been broken off on 12lb line straight to a size 6 drennan super specialist using breadcrust. I have had a Perch which I reackon was between 4 - 5 lbs take a skimmer bream of my hook in front of my eyes! One day I had about 30lb of small rudd and roach and 25lb of Tench in a morning. (you need big baits like pellets to get through the small fish. The top lake is surrounded by trees and has loads of lilys.

The bottom lake is alot newer and held loads of tiny rudd/roach and loads of carp. I caught 15 in a day, 5 in double figrues. They used to average at about 7lbs (several years ago).

I dont know what it is like now as I left the club when they lost this and several other waters. Another club now runs the lakes. I know that guests at the b and b can fish for a small fee.

Let me know how ypu get on as I have had loads of great days fishing there.

Rudd

Depends on which weekend you are looking at.

First weekend in September, and you won't get much better value for money than the Stoney and friends fish in at Yateley!
