Hi all, i`ve been waiting for some phones to arrive for the last 7 days from a ebay buy it now sale. I paid £80 for product immediately by paypal including p&p. I emailed them on weds asking if item had been sent, they emailed back "yes it had", by friday still not arrived, so i emailed them again asking why, no reply to this and no reply to subsequent emails sent over the weekend until today when i recieved this email.hi,due to a massive problem with royal mail we are now in the position to give you a full refund for the items bought. we are very sorry for this inconvenience. we hope that this is ok. I have never had to do this before so my question is this;

I paid by paypal so can i be refunded thru the same process? And is there anything else i should be doing for this inconvenience? Thanks all Dave.

seems more than a little strange........ you can be refunded by paypal, and it will probably be easiest to do it that way, making sure the seller picks up any charges.

would be interested to see what the problems they had with the royal mail, sounds more like an excuse to me.

I 'bought' some head light bulbs off Ebay and after a while the seller told me I was getting a refund as they were 'out of stock'.
How can sellers sell goods they don't have?

Fraud comes to mind.

I use e-bay, quite alot,(not as a business)on the e-mail you recieved from e-bay, the 1 congratulating you on your win, you have the option to leave feedback. Leave a negative 1, also you can report too e-bay the failure to produce goods. These options do work, also if to many complaints are recieved they are investigated.

In my humble opinion the other party in any ebay transaction should always get the chance to redress any greivance before you post a negative. Negatives can be very harmful to someone trying to run a business and if they are willing to pay you back in full that seems reasonable to me, also stocks do sometimes run out I guess. I would only ever leave a negative after all avenues of redress had been followed and the other party was refusing to be reasonable.

Royal Mail DID have a problem the other day which resulted in a LOT of mail not getting through!! Apparently due to a chemical spill at one of the main sorting offices. Don't know if that is what they are on about?
BUT go into your pay-pal account and start a claim for goods not delivered and they will pay you out. best place to ask the question though is on the Community Boards on eBay!! Just look at top bar which sends you to MY EBAY and there is a tab with COMMUMITY. click on that, sign in and go to the community questions and answers and ask there. Look out for a poster called "Peaseblossom" she is the BEST person to speak/ask about all and anything to do with pay-pal. Good luck!!

Thanx for the replys guys, they did actually say they had posted the goods when i enquired about them last weds, the email i recieved today contradicts that statement. I have a theory on why i didnt recieve the phones, i dont think they advertised them right, i think they may have left a small detail out of the sales patter, like the product is £70 cheaper than argos because they are refurbished. These were advertised as new and that the boxes had only been opened to check everything was there, but reading other sellers ads who are selling similar products at around the same price as i paid all state that the phones are refurbed by bt but are ggod as new. Will give them a chance before leaving a neg because i bought off them in the first place coz they had a 100% feedback off 140 sales/purchases, so in that respect Gobio is right. I will let you know how i fair.Dave

I bought a table-top dishwasher. Seller said he would send it when cheque was cashed. I was then told some two weeks after the cheque was cashed that the machine must be "lost in transit" and then said he was not replying to any more e-mails.
The police were involved and were told by the "seller" to ask the post office for proof. The police told me that the postmaster "had verified delivery" I phoned the post office and was told that the "seller" had sent a number of parcels that week but could not say for definite that my machine was one of them. :mad: :mad:
