A pike angler and his girl-friend were getting up, having been woken by the shrill tones of one of his six bite alarms. They sat in the bivvy, him slowly struggling to pull on his bivvy boots. Oh, says the girl-friend, why has that one got an L in it, and that one an R? Three times, despite the alarm still shrieking, he patiently explains it to her. The L means that I put my left foot into it, and the R means that I put my right foot into it. Oh, she says, so is that's why my knickers have got a label with C&A in them then:D?

The true identities have been changed to protect the innocent, namely me !

It's one of those computer talk shortcuts:

ROFLMA = Roll On The Floor Laughing My Ass Off

A shortcut that usually gives away exactly how long you've been messing around on the internet.

My first modem after there were enough folks connected to be able to chat was 300 baud. At that speed, you can easily read text as it scrolls in and still have time to eat a meal.

Even my 2nd modem that ran at a blazing 1200 baud (as opposed to the 'slow' dial-up speeds these days of 45,000 and faster) and you could still read as fast as it came in.

So - anything to save time and smilies were not even a thought since pictures are so big.

LOL - Laugh out Loud - "man, that was funny"
LMAO - Laughing my Ass Off - "too funny. You are killing me".
ROFLMAO - meaning as noted - about as funny as it can get. I fell right out of my chair from laughing.

Do you have C&A in America Newt? Thought it was a British Institution.
Also didn't think that you would know the quaint old English term of 'knickers' either. I do realise that all Americans, especially super-heroes, wear their pants on the outside so maybe knickers is universal .

Unless I mistake the meaning of C&A (and that ain't likely given the context biggrin.gif ) we certainly do.

Knickers - my gran back when I was a youngun was known to say, 'well don't get your knickers in a twist'. That was 50 years ago and she was in her mid 70s at that time. I doubt I need to translate the phrase.

Errrrrr Newt, C&A is a chain of department stores here in the UK. In the 'other' context I'm sure that you do, about 50% of the population!!
