I have NO commercial interest in this, but in the interest of saving lives here's a plug for an excellent company with an excellent product and excellent service.

Two years ago I bought a life jacket, one of those self inflating jobbies. You hardly know you are wearing one, brillient. We went to the Boat Show at Lowestoft yesterday and the company was there, and I bought another for my wife.
Regulation olive green, 150 newtons and CE EN396 and guaranteed for three years. Look at the price of the Fox one! Nip into a chandlers, £60 to £80.00!!! These people are pushing 'em out at £32.00, amazing!! They are great for anglers. Take a look at http://www.cheaplifejackets.co.uk
With p.p they are £38.00, and for saving a life they are sooooooooooooooo very cheap! Some folk charge nearly a ton for these. But if you don't mind not having the 'right' label then these are the nuts!

Peter,

These guys are already on my 'Favourites' list for when I get my boat, as I intend to have 'spares' for passengers smile.gif

I was telling others about them on my power boat course, too.

I'm really impressed by them Elton. Their attitude is spot on. What sort of boat are you after? I'll keep my ear to the ground.

Keyword at the moment is 'cheap' biggrin.gif

I'm trying to put together some kind of budget at the moment, so it isn't imminent, but I'd like something around 18-22ft and sea-going.

Need to sort my business and finances out first, though

There's a nice old lifeboat for £6k at Ipswich, she'safe!!
I'll keep my ear very close to the cheap but 100% seaworthy grapevine!

Go to http://www.foxsyachts.co.uk Elton, it was on their list yesterday. You might need to phone and ask. Ask for Tom Roberts, good fellow, very helpful.

Steve, re 150 Newtons, I'll quote:-

275 for offshore, extreme conditions, heavy protective clothing.

150 for offshore, foul weather clothing.

100 for sheltered waters.

50 for swimmers only.

If I worked on an oil platform during the winter then 275 would be the biz, but not for freshwater angling, surely. Angler's 'heavy' clothing probably has negative bouyancy whilst in the water anyway. I agree that 100 is questionable but 150, well, my Lyn is precious, and well built!!

Perhaps Crewsaver were knocking the cheap competition

I seriously believe that 250 is excessive for freshwater angling and boating, and the price a deterant. Plus anglers don't fish in 'extreme' conditions!
