Following my 'Interesting Ebay Auctions' post, I thought I'd have a look to see what sort of stuff goes for big money on Ebay. In doing so, I came across this item.

Now, I'm ashamed to say that I have never fished with a proper pole, so know nothing about them, but how much do these things actually cost?

As a sometimes-carp-angler, I get the pee taken out of me for the amount of kit I have. I probably could buy a complete carp outfit for the cost of that pole...and still have change for a syndicate season ticket! biggrin.gif

pole anglers need deeper pockets than either carp anglers or centrepin enthusiasts!

and remember you'd probably need a carp pole, and a silver fish pole . . . . . . ohmy.gif

And then some!

I reviewed this camo carp rod a while back. You could get over 30 of them for the price of that pole new biggrin.gif

I saw a fascinating feature (on Sky's Tightlines) about how poles are made. You wouldn't believe the work that goes into them. They're really labour intensive.

It's like anything else in technology. The first 90% improvement in performance costs a tenth as much as the last 10%. That's why F1 cars cost millions.
