Finally after months (years!!) of waiting Aramiska have finally been and installed a 2way satellite internet system today 2Mb downstream and 512Kb upstream.

I've just been having a wee play, and it's awesomely fast, especially after being used to a 26k dial-up connection. The engineer was busy apologising for a 200 to 400 milisecond delay, we were all just stunned at the speed of it.

Next tuesday the wireless network guys get here to install the wireless network which will enable me to use the satellite link from home.

To say the least, I can't wait.

Great stuff isn't it Nick? Easy to get used to as well but man, if it ever fails and you have to go back to dial-up, you'll go nuts.

Newt, I've got spares of everything, and the training to use it. But no matter what I just know that twice a year we're going to lose signal for a short time. I'll hate that. And I also know that at some point in time the system is going to breakdown. That will be REAL BAD!!

But at the moment my access via dial up is so bad that I'm lucky to get online at all most days.

Chesters, it's 89cm, reckon it'll be good for a snow shovel. But we don't get much snow here. biggrin.gif

But I know I'm going to love it.
