I know this is the non fishing forum but I felt that this needed as much coverage as I could give it, sorry

I have an Abu Ambassadeur 6500C, it is 30 years old and has been through its fair share of fish, scrapes and knocks. For various reasons I have never wanted to dump it, one being that Sonja had a nice Carp on it
I asked around and the Reel Doctors name kept coming up. I sent him a picture of the reel and explained that the gears were shot, the handle was bent and the side plates were corroded, could he help?
As luck would have it he was in the process of buying out another reel repair mans stock who was retiring so had the required parts in stock smile.gif

Here (I hope) is the original picture of the reel that I sent him, note the damage due to friction on sea walls and thats just the outside of the reel.

Here is what he sent back, I even e mailed him to make sure that he had not sent me a new reel instead of the repaired one. I have included the parts that he replaced including the level wind worm in the next picture.

Now most of you know that I do not endorse firms or people lightly especially on AN but I challenge any one to beat this mans workmanship and service, all for £30 including p&p to Holland.

As a foot note, if you have a reel that is well and truely clapped out and beyond repair, don't dump it but think about shelling out a few quid and send it off to the http://www.thereeldoctor.co.uk as he may be able to use some of the parts to help keep and his other clients costs down a bit.
The snail mail address is

N.J.F. Reel Repairs.
16 Keswick Avenue,
Sittingbourne,
Kent
ME10 3AU

I would like to post this on the coarse and sea sections but don't know how to do it

Tight lines all.

Alan

Thats nothing mate, I am an office cleaner and must have about 100 computers spread over 3 clients, I can guarentee that 80% of them have important pass words and addresses "hidden" under there key boards, including bank ones and that does not include what is "hidden" in the server room

If you made out a questionair to a firms staff including silly little things like pets names, house names etc and hide these in real questions then you will soon find pass words, people are creatures of habit

The Reel Doctor is pure magic though

having safety tested thousands of p.c's the women usually have the passwords felt tipped on the monitor rolleyes.gif or on postit notes on the floor under the desk ,probably on loosing it the I.T. dept was summoned to recover the passwords the hard way rolleyes.gif

Anyone else noticed that Chesters has given up collecting reels and is now a collector of cardboard boxes?

When you get a new find do you now throw away the reel inside and place the box proudly on your shelf Chesters? smile.gif

Photographs with lots of background info the taker never knew was there are good fun aren't they? I love to scrutinise ebay pictures, amazing the things you can find, the most famous being 'Reflectoporn' which has been mentioned on here before.
