Can anyone suggest any good places in the west midlands for silver fish during the winter for my clubs winter league?
All the canals seem to be a bit slow and the good river stretches seem to be BAA only.

Why dont you want to join the BAA? Lots of good water and great value.Where abouts do you live in the Midlands?

Very true Budgie but the trouble with the BAA is their night fishing policy. I know they are trialing night fishing on a few of their river stretches but dawn till dusk fishing is just not viable to some anglers, especialy during the winter months.

Fair point Ant.When I used to live in the Midlands (Redditch in the mid 70's) it always used to amaze me how so many would moan about the BAA constantly buying up waters.Especially when the membership fee was so low.Even if you didnt/couldnt travel to all of their waters just fishing your local one on their card was cheaper than the pre BAA day ticket prices.A lot of Brummies just seemed to be very short sighted.

Although the night fishing rule is a thorn in the side of many specimen anglers, it shouldn't be a problem to the original poster, who was looking for a match venue.

The winter days will be the same whatever venue you fish. smile.gif
