Please, please, can someone help me source some Sufix Herculine Braid in strengths from 6lb up to 11lb? I believe Relum used to import it before Gardner, but I don’t believe Gardner supply it under 20lb.
Any information on the whereabouts of any (in this country or abroad) would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

I thought I saw it in my local shop but I think it was the 'heavy' version. Sufix still list it on their website at
http://www.sufix.com/FishingLine/SUPERBRAID.htm Best suggestion I can make is to email Sufix (they're in Taiwan) and ask them whether it's still available in the UK....if it isn't....then where. Sometimes braids are upgraded and called something else. Berkely are always doing that. The importers may have gone out of business, but the line might be available in France, Germany or the US. Worth an email. Best of luck. -------------------- 'I've got a mind like a steel wassitsname'

Many thanks Argyll, I’ve used a couple of search engines to no avail. Just sent an email to tiawan so hopefully they will be able to help.
Tony Miles has mentioned this stuff in a couple of articles (last one in Coarse Angling Today July 2004) but I suspect he procured his before Gardner took over from Relum as distributors. |

I tried it in 24lbs some years ago, lethal stuff. The ONLY braid that I have ever used that has snapped off without apparent reason and in its first few casts

Yep, I had similar problems. I also noticed that there is an outer skin and an inner core to the braid and the outer skin frequently broke at knots, leaving just the core.
-------------------- Species caught in 2008:
Barramundi. p-i-k-e-y sea bream. Indian sea catfish. Guitarfish. Mangrove Jack. Mahseer. Squid (Not strictly a fish but it took a lure !). Emporer Sweetlip. Black Spot Snapper. Moray eel. Spangled Emperor. Bluecheek silver grunt. Yellow striped emperor. Vanikoro sweeper. Pike. Perch. Brown trout. Chub. Atlantic salmon. |

That was the problem Ken, the slightest damage, even a caused by a wind knot, spoilt the integrity of the outer core, and hence the line broke. In my honest opinion not a line to be sold by a responsible company.
