Many other eBay sellers here?
I've stopped ending auctions at weekends and have even started ending them during the day. Thing is, I seem to be getting more interest. I have a couple of theories: 1. If people want something, they may get somebody else to bid if they are at work (I do this for my wife at times). 2. If people are going to be at work, they tend to leave a maximum bid, rather than sniping the auction at the last second. Anyone else tried this? -------------------- Treat yourself and support Anglers' Net...

its a strange place ,i'v sold at what i thought was a peak time with 24 watchers and got one bid and bought at 4pm (when everyone should be at work) and have been sniped.
there is software available that snipes for you (dont use it myself) but all in all anything i bid on i get outbid and anything i sell doesent. stuff i have sold despite being far better than an identical item gets less than the tatty one sold before  if i dont bid it goes for peanuts if i do i get outbid at 3 times the price it was at 12 seconds before  -------------------- |

One of the keys is having the margin, or balls, to start low and get bidders on board, I reckon. I often can't do this, as I am selling new stock that has cost me money, and I am a wimp.
Once people start bidding, it's like 'gambling' when they get outbid. -------------------- Treat yourself and support Anglers' Net...

Wife does all the selling (too complicated for me). Fairly new at it but I like the sound of parts of this and will get her to give a try at odd-hour auction endings. Hmmmmmm.

Does anyone have any experience of the spoonfeeder software?
Elton im gonna try ending items away from the weekend. Ive done this in the past with the cheaper bits and bobs to hopefully get people to view my other items, which hopefully they will return to buy at the weekend and quite often do. |

Try ending your item on a Friday morning when Ebay closes for maintenance, that way folk can't bid pennies at the last second, I've done it twice (unintentionally) with three day auctions and sold the items for silly money (about twice the price I was selling them at on the markets)
On weekends people can sit in front of their computers and increase the bid by pennies, during the day or at stupid hours during the night they might not be able to. -------------------- Mark

The only problem with ending on a friday morning is that the casuals and the less shrewd who dont realise that ebay has closed down, cant get back on board to bid. Just my experience.

As much as I moan about eBay, I'm looking to increase what I do on there (just need to find some alternative stock!).
For anyone new to it, a piece of advice: never try to analyse it to the nth degree. You'll go mad. I've had stuff get no bids, immediately relisted it at the same price and had bids within minutes! I've had duplicate items sell at totally different ends of the spectrum. So many 'weird' things happen with eBay. My main area of interest now is to try to find items that generate interest, and a lot of that seems to be about starting at a low price. I suppose it's a bit like fishing, in a way. Feed the small fish into a frenzy and, often, the bigger fish appear. -------------------- Treat yourself and support Anglers' Net...
