One of my friends was assigned to a new post, teaching English to prisoners. Not knowing the level of education the inmates had, she decided to begin the first class by asking a basic question:
"Ok, who can tell me what a sentence is?"

Asking his father-in-law, a crop duster, how his day had gone, an aquaintance of mine received this reply.
"Terrible, I was up in my plane dusting a field this morning, when I clipped a power line and damaged a wing. when I got back the boss tore a strip off me. Then a man from the flight authority phoned me and tore another strip off me. pi$$ed off, I stopped at a pub on the way home and asked for a beer and was handed a warm lager. Don't you sell cold beer?, I shouted to the landlord. He replied - Sorry mate, but we've had no electricity all day, ever since some idiot crop duster hit the electricity cable down the road!"
