A friend mailed me a set of pictures that are supposed to be unusual fish washed ashore by the Tsunami. Not sure exactly where and the names are simply as they were given to me.

At any rate, some interesting critters here so I though I'd share a few with you.

Amazing photos Newt. Thanks biggrin.gif .

I did a search and found more here;

http://forum.openwater.ru/index.php?showtopic=611

It says they were washed up in Thailand. Theres a cracker of what looks like a tiny parasitic male attached to a female, labelled as "Aphyonus" . Also a weird shark, labelled "Prickly shark" .

Not a sci fi monster to touch all these guys for looks eh? smile.gif

By golly - that is exactly the group of fish I got although the email title has mutated a bit.

Interesting group of fish though, regardless of where they were collected.

The black dragon fish looks like one of the things they fish up off Madiera.
They turn up in the local fish market, the Portuguese eat them, I have not been tempted so far!

I seem to remember reading that these deep water species are what our fish fingers are going to be made of when all of the ususal species are wiped out.
