For all those that did not know (due to the massive amount of publicity) Drennan Team England are the 2004 European champions after taking gold in Hungary.
Will Raison took individual silver and was very close to gold after two section wins giving him two points.
He lost out on gold by approx 1kg of fish.
I only found this out on tight lines.

Well done lads.
Well donr the media for top coverage  !!!!!!

Nice one England....did the Greeks have a team in it? Pleased for Will Raison. Fished at Gold Valley with my kids a few weeks ago and he's a nice fella - very helpful - obviously knows his stuff and seemed happy to pass on tips.

HOORAY!! WELL DONE DRENNAN TEAM ENGLAND
and WILL RAISON smile.gif

BOOO!!!! to the great?? British press!!!

It's bloody typical though, lose at something at national level and your a hero with full national press and TV coverage, and everybody looks at you like your a god, (Especially if your a nancy type football team) you get all sorts of coverage.

BUT win for your country in fishing and what happens SOD ALL!!! THAT'S WHAT!!! not even a few lines at the back of the paper. Over the years Drennan Team England have walked away with world team, world individual, Eropean team, European individual medals, both mens' AND womens and not a murmer anywhere.

I often wonder just exactly why the teams turn out year after year, when they get this sort of treatment from the media. It really must tick them off.

Don't always bash the media. Events will only get publicity if the media are told about them in advance by the people organising them.....

Would of thought the NFA have done some sort of press release.
Tight lines mentioned the event on 25th June program, then done a small report on 2nd July program.
Did not see the AT or AM last week but would of thought they knew about the event.
BBCi have sport sectons on just about every sport possible apart from angling, nothing on ceefax or teletext last week or ever, even tried a search on google which didnt get me the result.
There was not even a report on Sky sports.com tight lines page!

Unless people that run these events contribute stuff, it won't get on anywhere.

http://www.nfaresults.co.uk/index.php

Here's the official site. Not a word. Little wonder the 'media' didn't report it if angling's own governing body has kept it a secret......Last update on their site was February 24th 2004 - a lot of water under a lot of bridges since then.
