We've had the latest rash of plastic pop bands doing cover versions that are all but indistinguishable from the originals or previous covers.
There are times though when the cover is by bar the best version of a song.
What would be your top three cover versions ?

Species caught in 2008:
Barramundi. p-i-k-e-y sea bream. Indian sea catfish. Guitarfish. Mangrove Jack. Mahseer. Squid (Not strictly a fish but it took a lure !). Emporer Sweetlip. Black Spot Snapper. Moray eel. Spangled Emperor. Bluecheek silver grunt. Yellow striped emperor. Vanikoro sweeper. Pike. Perch. Brown trout. Chub. Atlantic salmon.

OK, How about:

Sinead O'Connor covering Prince's Nothing compares 2U.

or

UB40 turning John Denver's rather dry Red Red Wine into a reggae classic.

but my personal favorite has to be the Sisters of Mercy taking Hot Chocholate's "Emma" and turning into a howling cry of anguish.

I'd guess that Tugmistress would go for the classic version of Stairway to Heaven by The Powerstation though - OK, maybe not.
