"A very active Atlantic hurricane season is underway, and with more storms projected, NOAA today increased the number of storms in its 2005 hurricane season outlook.
NOAA expects an additional 11 to 14 tropical storms from August through November, with seven to nine becoming hurricanes, including three to five major hurricanes. In total, this season is likely to yield 18 to 21 tropical storms, with nine to 11 becoming hurricanes, including five to seven major hurricanes." i still cant understand the lost lives in america ,unlike the tsunami???? in the hot island places its not as if they didnt see it coming  i heard they watched it for a week or more ,and as the effected bit of america are below sea level even more so ,still plenty for the looters to get i expect most couldnt afford the goods in their real lives.
i think a radicle look into the building methods used over there may be worth while and building standards improved and unions disbanded, houses made of sticks in tornado ally and levi's (sp?) made of dirt i'd expect it in a poor country but in america??? -------------------- |

Take your chances anywhere Chesters... Last spring it was land slides in Scotland wasn't it? Most couldn't afford it in thier real lives. Listening to them you wonder whether some are educated. I think they are doing the best they can given the circumstances OTOH I think there is a difference between looting and gathering necessities. The area where I used to live in Biloxi is completely unrecognizable yet you haven't seen much on the news about that area only New Orleans.
They are in for a treat then Leon. Bring on the Biloxi Bacon. -------------------- Jeff

SAw Biloxi on the 6pm news today. Totally flattened.
I think that by the looks of things the poorest had no means to escape. Some people obviously didnt understand what nature could do and some just didnt want to leave. A terrible shame. I really find it hard to believe when watching the news that this is America the richest nation on our planet. I here the mayor has told everyone to get out, but just where do they go? and who is going to look after them. The whole thing is beyond comprehension. |

TD Lee & TD-14 are headed into the open ocean of the Atlantic and not likely to bother anyone.
A tropical wave looks likely to become TD-15 within a day and probably a hurricane by early next week. Also a couple of areas in the Bahamas / Bermuda area that could easily get organized when conditions for tropical storm formation improve in the next couple of days. Note that Katrina was born in this same area. Leon, I'm beginning to think that "Very Active" may be a massive understatement. @SUMMER@ - I honestly don't have any clue what to do about the poor who can't afford to leave. Since that seems to run to about 20% of the population, it is a major issue. As to the others, most are old timers who do know what a bad storm can do but have stayed through so many (and often their parents and grandparents had done the same) they just didn't believe this was gonna be the big one. Others probably agree with the man from Grand Isle (barrier island below New Orleans) who said if it was your time to die, then you would die. Note that he hasn't been seen since the storm moved through nor have any of the 6 or 7 others who elected to remain on Grand Isle. -------------------- "Democracy dies when the people wanting their government to take care of them outnumber those wanting to take care of themselves." - Author Unknown - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For a selection of lures, reels and other items, visit my eBay shop http://stores.ebay.com/JaNewt-eMart |
