A poster was moaning about licence fees :

Year-----Sales------Value

1995/96 1,000,646 £11,171,448
1996/97 1,171,914 £12,252,989
1997/98 1,196,417 £13,386,885
1998/99 1,143,883 £12,955,984
1999/00 1,136,228 £14,320,773
2000/01 1,085,446 £14,419,060
2001/02 1,143,430 £14,868,720
2002/03 1,180,061 £16,009,823
2003/04 1,261,972 £18,004,606

If this years sales are the same as last years anglers have paid GBP 145'394'894.00 in licence fees in the last ten years.
Thats alot of dough, do you think any sane govt would try to ban angling based on the above figures?

And don't even begin to think of all the VAT we've handed over after purchasing tackle etc.

There has been a lot of debate on the Prince Albert web site about the future of angling in the light of the ban on hunting with dogs. The discussions were polarised and very quickly tipped over into a bit of a slanging match re thr rights and wrongs of this. Plotics raised its ugly head so please don't let this thread go the same way!

And people say there is no money in angling!

If only anglers had control of those funds to promote the sport and sponsor our national teams.
