been perusing the shops today for a new jacket ,saw some apallingly priced ones in millets ,the usual peter storm rubbish allegedly waterproof with pockets without flaps etc and very small zip flaps just waiting for rain.
popped into nearby tackle shop but their range very limited (and pricy)
so can anyone reconmend a decent jacket ,boxes to fill below biggrin.gif
1) NOT cammo (seeing i have to pay more than a fiver for it it will have to be a non fishing coat as well)
2) 1 colour (really hate silly coloured arms etc)
3) 100% waterproof (large flap over zip ,few seams unless taped, large flaps over vertical pockets.
4)fully lined for winter use (not that stupid mesh)
5) 100% windproof
6) no advertising logo`s
7)3/4 lenght

and the hardest
8) about £50 sad.gif
looking at a few fishing sites there are a few cheap coats but need second oppinions to their actual quality

the link didnt work ,went to 2 surplus shops in aldershot ,i pity our soldiers that have to survive in that kit even the very expensive gortex stuff was not up to much, poorly made seams ,small flaps on pockets where rain loves to go etc,i think army clothing design stopped in 1958 only the material has changed sad.gif
i cannot see why standard clothing is so expensive ,its all made in china ,probably all in the same factory but seems very expensive for basically a bit of nylon and thread ,our tent was cheaper than some stuff and that is 100% waterproof and windproof and has 2 bedrooms biggrin.gif

There are a lot of things like this about for around £65

This one is from fieldandforces.co.uk

I know several people, especially beaters that swear by these from Wearite for the same price.

thanks jim but i notice sloping pockets ,having had similar coats in the past those slopes let water in sad.gif
our local oufitters (they boast sizes to 55") could only recomend a barbour coat and everyone knows that barbour is fashion and not waterproof ,once they soak up water it rains inside biggrin.gif
i did mention that it had to be a full time coat and on the honda water gets in every crevice especially sloping pockets ,theres nothing worse than damp baccy biggrin.gif
i'm not being picky chaps but only owning 1 coat another one has to earn its keep honest and combine several functions (walking about in town ,on the bike and fishing),bit extravigant in shoes though, i have 2 pairs smile.gif

Try Regatta, 100% waterproof, windproof, inside zip pockets to keep wallet, phone and baccy dry. removable inside fleece lined, various single colours.
