With September approaching it's soon time to put my deadbaiting hat back on.

Have any of you got any advice about stuff I can soak deads in overnight to increase attraction?

Does it work? Which ones are the best? Any tips welcome.

Grind some dead-bait off cuts down in a blender, add a bit of liver and a tube of anchovy paste and grind it all down to the consistency of toothpaste. If you make sure it's as fine as this, a.) It won't feed the pike off with anything like chopped fish can, it'll just entice them to your bait and b.) There'll be no sinew or bone to mask a hook point.

Spread this on your dead-baits either before freezing them, or just prior to casting. If you want to use it fresh and be able to cast a decent distance or slow down the rate at which the attractor leaves your bait, buy a can of plumbers freezing spray and give the pasted bait a blast before casting it.

We've had people trialling some fish blood powder we stock with pretty good results for both Pike and sea fishing.

I am not yet into Pike mode (another month or so), but will probably give it a go around then....

Winterized Salmon Oil and Van Den Eynde Liquid Pellet (I suspect it's Halibut extract) are both very good additives.
Don't get the VDE Predator Plus. It doesn't seem to increase runs from Pike. In fact I'd even go as far as to say, it's a deterrent. It's the greatest Eel attractor ever made though but that wasn't the question.

I also agree that it will be at least another month and a half before I start piking again.

I have used flavour before with limited success but I all way use the fresher deadbait you can buy.

The flavours I use to used in the past were Mackerel, Smelt, Herring, Sandeel and Sardines.

This year I am looking at the Van Den Eynde Predator after I had a sniff of these product!

Agree with Any ref: VDE predator plus. No success at all, unless you count smelly clothes, fishing bag, car etc.

V helpful stuff fellas. Thanks.

Anybody thought of (or tried) simply catapulting a load of cod liver oil capsules around the baited spot?
