It's easy to understand why some people decide not to buy one though...in all my years, I have not seen one....not one bailiff

Awaar - Don't buy one and I'll guarantee that within the first five times you go angling, you will be asked for your license. Thats Sod's Law!!

Most places I go to in North Wales there is always someone that asks me if i've got my license. Even if it's when i'm paying for my permit or simply a Bailiff who comes round when i'm fishing. When I go fishing I never go without it!! biggrin.gif

I've had my Licence checked just the once this season, on a day where my brother (a very occasional angler) moaned all the way to the fishery because I'd made him log onto the EA website at 4:30am and buy himself a one day licence to cover the trip.

He changed his tune somewhat after the vist from the boys from the EA!

I have accidently gone fishing without a proper license once that I can remember. In this country you need a license for each State you fish in. Most bodies of water that are on the border between two states allow either license but some do not. Lake Wylie is a 'do not' and if you fish in the wrong portion of the lake, you will get a ticket.

I was fishing from the North Carolina shoreline but went out onto a long point that turned out to be over the line. Checked. Ticketed & Fined $85. Now routinely buy licenses for my state and the 3 that border on it each year.

you need a licence to fish in the states i thought it was "land of the free" tongue.gif
i have been asked once for mine in the kent championships in the late 60`s ,maybe the problem is not enough people checking for them ,a fault that can be directly traced back to the management of the people that enforce it ,they bleat that people dont buy one but dont make an effort to employ the very people that enforce it smile.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Too true Chesters if one thinks he/she ain't gonna get caught whats the point,if you didn't buy one for 10 years and got caught the chances are it would work out cheaper even with the fine anyway.

PS i aways buy one
