So how many of us use their motor to get to where they fish. Not for much longer, so it seems.

parliament and government get up to many things out of site ,record the parliament channel for a few hours and youl see most laws are passed by less than a dozen M.P's actually in parliament ,mp's only turn up enmass for P.M's questions and highly publicised in the press bits and bobs all the rest are rushed through by a handfull.
the gov love dirty tricks they set the time for debate but dont allow time for discusion ,many new laws are passed without parliament even knowing what amendments are also going through ,a classic one is the terrorism bill where 280+ amendments also went through ,the gov never inforned anyone to what the amendments actuall were democracy rules ko
in other words the amendmends could completly change what the law is about and the one that was passed amended out of all comparison

I especially liked the part of back dooring you by banning the material you need to make things you want to use instead of banning the actual act.

Nugg do you think that if they pass this bill they will allow special use permits or something equivalent? Think of the handicapped anglers unable to get to their pegs

That's one of the reasons I posted it on here Jeff, I think there might be a few caught out by this stupidity.
As I read it there won't be any changes once it's done.

And I especially like the idea of keeping M/Cycles and Cars off the country byways.

Why should walkers and horseriders have to wade thro muddy ruts caused by 4wd's and trail bikes.
Why should people who are out for a walk/ride in the peace and quiet of the countryside have to step aside to let these people drive past making a stink and load of noise.

And as for the bikers who swoop silently up behind you startling you, and curse when your dog tries to unseat them, well the sooner they are banned the better.

I am lucky to live in an area rich with footpaths and byways (none of them created for motorised vehicles except farm vehicles) and slowly but surely they are being vandalised by people who are just unable to appreciate the country for what it is meant to be.

One 4wd can do more damage in one day to an unpaved trackway than 1000 years of walkers.

you will find most locals and users will ignore anything restrictng their passage ,the chance of being caught will be very low ,we dont see coppers on our streets never mind footpaths ,but beware of (usually) newly moved in residents along the footpath they are the complainers and although liking to use the "facility" themselves want it stopped for others.
a case is our old houses neighbours ,our old house is about 100yards down a boat (used to be a bridal path before being upgraded) the new owners of the house on the end of the boat dont like motorcyclists using it (they never bothered us in all the years we lived down there) so they wanted to put barriers across (we were speaking to them in passing) we said it was a boat and being from london didnt have a clue what one was rolleyes.gif
"oh that was from before engines were invented" she said i replied i though engines predated 1991 when it was defined rolleyes.gif
despite this they are badgering the village councill to act despite the owners of our old house having to use it.
really pees me off when people buy a place then stop the locals going about their business as they have for all time ,the boat (or rather the path the boat defines) was actually used in building the local abbey in 1128 so its not exactly cropped up recently and being a sunken lane probably for several thousand years
talking to the owners of the house where ours used to be the woman even complains when horse riders go past her fence as they can see intio her garden ,maybe research would have revealed that in surrey its horsey country and horse riders ride horses rolleyes.gif

How very true Chesters. I know of a few cases myself.

Poledark I take your points and understand what you feel. This bill will be for one and all, it may well effect the legitimate use of some of these lanes/pathways. Take a case like Jeff above, he wants to go fishing but the access he needs to get to the fishing grounds has been denied to him and everyone who used to get there in their car.

strangly the bit that vehicles use is dry compared to the bit horses use ,whilst i agree 4x4 users certainly bugger up lanes ,horses also play a part we cannot go to the shop in the winter down the lane the horses even chew up the firm soil on the edges sad.gif and cars dont crap on the only dry bits
and some horse are so ignorent they wont get out of the way when i'm on my bike ,mind you creeping up behind them and giving a cheery toot usually makes something move, never could understan why some horses go at less than walking speed when they can be kicked much faster its a bit like buying a sports car and never getting out of first gear
talking about horses can any owners explain the strange occurence of ginger horses having ginger coloured crap (its true)

Ahh well, you see you can take a car through a car wash horses don't have one, the riders have to clean them themselves. Can't get them dirty what!!!!!

bit like a no doupt expensive dog walking service that parks every day a 12.30 down by the pond ,the pooches sit in the back of the gaily painted land rover and not once have i seen them being walked ,she just sits there for half an hour then turns round and goes away
is it a case of the walker not wishing to get them dirty so she has to wash them or is it charging for non existant washing
