Theres a thought. If I get stopped and have'nt got my licence but have other forms of ID and the EA baliff can check via the phone that I do indeed own a licence , will I have committed an offence by not having my licence with me and will I still be required to produce my licence within the seven days.
One thing it will prevent though is the angler when caught without a licence phoning home for the wife to buy one sharpish from the Post Office and try and evade prosecution.

When I got checked on the fish in on the Test, I had left my licence in my rucksack back in my car. The EA baliff took my details and phoned the EA data base whilst checking others further along the bank, so they can do this now. I did offer to show him some I.D but he did not require it. On his way back he just everythings fine, thank you.

We got checked on Sunday, unfortunately one of our members had left his wallet at home(I had to loan him his breakfast money)so had no proof of I,D.The bailiff handed his name to his mate to make the phone call then went over to sec to see if his name on the sheet matched.Came back a few minutes later to say it was OK.
