Hi all, can anybody help this visitor to the site?
---------------------------------------------------------

Hi everybody, can any one supply me with details of suppliers of agate rod rings, as I am restoring a Hardy Wallace Avon from the
Sixties; any information about this rod would also be appreciated!

Thanks Geoff

Cheers, Julian

These are ABU agate rings but you'll need to check with the seller about sizes etc. Its US Ebay, but they definitely look cheap and the postage is peanuts.

Seriously though try ringing the shop in Bromsgrove I mentioned in a recent posting. He used to make a lot of cane rods and still has a lot of old style rings and fittings left. Will look up the thread and post the details for you as I havnt got them to hand.

Actually Gobio the tackle shop is still open. At least it was a couple of weeks ago and there was some good bargains! That he still got lots of good stuff in there!

Yes he apears to be having an extended closing down sale! No new stock comming in or bait etc just trying to shift the remains of his stock.Dont know how long this will go on for but as they live above the shop I should imagine it wont finally close just yet.

As I mentioned on the other post there is a lot of "old" gear and DIY tackle materials there that you would struggle to get in more modern shops.ANDvery cheap due to closing down.

Gobio, dont worry mate me and Andrew thought it had been closed for years untill we went past a month or two ago!

I don't know where abouts you are but my local tackle shop Simpsons of Turnford have a stack of rod rings in stock some of which must be lined rings, maybe not original Agate but it could be worth ringing them and asking for Jack.
