I am looking for a rear drag free-spool reel for carping. I am looking to pay up to £50 (not much I know)...
I've looked at the Okuma Undertakers and although they're good reels I can't get on with front drag...

Any recomendations?

Have a look at the Bennetts of Sheffield website, they have some great deals on tackle. There is some good quality stuff there at some great prices.

If you want a free spool facility then the Shimmano Baitrunner is still the best choice.I would rather use a good second hand reel than an inferior new one.

Diawa 'Regal' X or Z
All the features of a Shimmy for £40.00
You can get some very good Rod/Reel deals on both Diawa & Shimmy on the net & often at a local dealer.

Damm good prices Monkeyboy!
I did drop in at Darlston many years back & found it not quite the 'superstore' advertised!
(still got a very nice quiver outfit from them after digging about a bit!)

Shimano Nexus Baitrunner RE 5000 for £49.99 at http://www.wmac.co.uk, doubt if you'll do better than that for under £50!

For an extra 8 quid you can get the 6000RE
Go for the shimano it wont let you down and after using you will stick to shimano reels.
Then again you could save another 20quid and get a shimano 6000gte which has more bearings and is super smooth.

They had a refit a couple of years ago. A bit like a West Country Bullied, now.
