Does anyone use capta leads anymore. A few of us were discussing fast water fishing and I mentioned capta leads. Noone knew what I was on about, even when I described them. Does anyone what happened to them? I can't find them on the net or anything.

Brillient things! Weren't popular as they tended to kite and so accuracy was not good, so some folk reckoned. Best ledger leads ever and I still use them. You guys who remember them really show your age!

I've long been after some of these pyramid-shaped weights in the heaviest size (1oz? - anyone know?) for perch fishing. I'd like to try them as I suspect they'll stay put so that the indicator moves instead, thus minimising the resistance.

At present, I use "tombstone" leads. I find these superior to normal flat leads as most are very narrow at the swivel end, and so have a tendency to lift, which I feel can spook cautious fish.

Steve - something like this? Although 1oz is about the lightest you are likely to find over here.

If so and given that shipping lead would be a silly thing to do,

T'other way up Newt, with unequel sides, just to confuse the issue! Bit like a CQR anchor without the shaft, if you get my drift, which you shouldn't with a CQR of the right weight for your boat!

By the way Steve, a 1/2oz Capta would be as good as a 1oz Arsley on a soft bottom.

Peter - I know you folks use upside-down pyramid weights with the attachment point at the skinny end but since Steve was asking about something that would dig in and stay put when a fish tugged on the rig, I thought maybe he might like this shape since it does just that.

I use pyramid weights for pier fishing in the fall, and like it says, the amount of roll is reduced. They vary in weight from 1/2 to 3 oz. Interesting names, Capta and Arsley.

'Interesting names, Capta and Arsley'

Dont know about Capta but Arsley bombs were developed by Dick Walker for distance fishing Arsley Lakes in Bedfordshire
