just had a wander up to where there replacing our "temporary" bridge (built by the canadians in WW2 in a couple of weeks to allow tanks to cross the Wey) i was horrified to see the river narrowed to half its width with unscreened demolition rubble  not only the fact that it containes a high percentage of powdered mortar it also contained bits of copper wire, wood, iron and even rags  the alkalinity of the morter would severly effect the balance of a river in an acid area never mind all the other stuff
if we had a flood the lot would go and the river bed would be scoured by the tons of rubble passing over it
seems strange this bridge is taking till next May to be completed when the canadians built one in a fortnight ,will this bridge last 60 years???
An inspector will visit was the response from the E.A. rolleyes.gif

Ask if you can meet the inspector on site to show him exactly what the problem is.
