just had a wander up to where there replacing our "temporary" bridge (built by the canadians in WW2 in a couple of weeks to allow tanks to cross the Wey) i was horrified to see the river narrowed to half its width with unscreened demolition rubble :mad: not only the fact that it containes a high percentage of powdered mortar it also contained bits of copper wire, wood,iron and even rags :mad: the alkalinity of the morter would severly effect the balance of a river in an acid area never mind all the other stuff :mad:
if we had a flood the lot would go and the river bed would be scoured by the tons of rubble passing over it :mad:
seems strange this bridge is taking till next May to be completed when the canadians built one in a fortnight ,will this bridge last 60 years???
An inspector will visit was the response from the E.A.

Ask if you can meet the inspector on site to show him exactly what the problem is.

they phoned back after i logged off,it was the region office ,they asked for a more detailed location ,i said tilford has 2 bridges if they look at one and there isnt a huge platform next to it its the other one there 200 yards apart it isnt a big deal
