try an Abu Conolon 13' sport...
I use mine for trotting small rivers all day, it's a feather weight.. -------------------- "I like to keep a bottle of stimulant handy in case I see a snake, which I also keep handy."

I bought a Conolon 14',I think it was Awaaar who recommended it to me last year. Love the rod, Its got a great handle so comfortable you forget your holding it. Don't know if its the lightest slimmest
But its a lovely rod. Paul |

One of these days I may have to replace my Century Composites Excalibur, it's 13'0" and weighs 5oz.
I shall probably replace it with one of these or a Harrison Gti from here, page 11 of this PDF file I've tried the John Allerton rod and it's a beauty, the Harrison Gti is a very popular blank that is sold under many other names. -------------------- On average, people have fewer than two feet.

For a nice 13ft rod without breaking the bank take a look at the Ron Thompson or Pro Logic IM8 match rod.
Nice and slim plenty of power and I think they retail for about £65 Pro Logic and Ron Thompson are the same rods sold under different brands from Svenden Sports |

Tigger, I picked up a Preston Carbonactive Sentient 14' float rod...thats a mouthful
very light in the hand, this is what its about... The Sentient 14' Float has all the characteristics of the 13' version. The additional length makes it perfect for all round river work or distance float fishing where ultra fast line pick-up is required. The advanced blend of carbon in the blank gives the 14' Float a very fast tip speed whilst retaining a soft tip that can be used with the lightest of hooklengths. I think Father Christmas will be dumping it down me chimney in December. |

Depends what you are prepared to pay. At the lower-priced end of the market, the current crop of Shakespeare match rods are excellent - well worth a look. And unlike some other distributors, Shakespeare give rod-weight in their catalogue specifications.

I think the lightest, slimmest of them all is the Normark Microlight II. 200 quid from WMAC.

I found the Shimano Catana AX Match 420fa for £49.99 at WMAC last rod on the page.
looks great, im very interested, as i missed my birthday this year cos we decided to get wed on that day, kerry has very kindly and wisely said she would get me one, its either that or go for the browning rhino df special match that ive wanted for ages, to go with the feeder rod i have of the same name. -------------------- |
