Does anyone know how long the Spanish rod licence I bought in Tenerife lasts. My mate reckons it was for five years but I'm not so sure. It was a farce getting it, you had to stand in line at a bank to pay for it, they gave you a receipt which you then had to take to a certain police station. Only one on the island miles away and the hire car broke down on the way there. Took the best part of a day. Don't really want to go through that again this year.

it should be printed on it. different regions can have different options on validity periods. for instance you can buy a licence for say 7 euros that is valid for 1 year, or a 3 year licence, for 21 euros.etc.
un ano= 1year
tres anos=3years
cinco anos=5 years smile.gif

yes you do.in my region there are two licence formats or types. i have one which covers me for coarse angling and sea fishing from the shore. there is a separate licence for boat angling in the sea.our licence for coarse and shore is 6.70€ per year.the sea angling from a boat is about 10€ a year.i would not dream of coarse fishing without a licence, i have been checked many times. but i have never been checked while sea fishing. maybe because i fish in an area where there are many tourists and they tend to leave them alone.penalties if you get caught without a licence include confiscation of gear, and a fine.the people responsible for enforcement are the guardia civil, seprona dept.( the enviramental section) although any of them can check if they feel like it.hardly worth the hassle of not buying one though as they are so cheap!! best wishes. dave. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the info. I will have another look a but couldn't see anything on it last time. As you say a licence is required for sea fishing and if I read mine correctly it covers you up to 3 miles off shore from a boat.

hi waveny one, each autonomous region has its own variations to the rules, one being umm..in certain regions, like catalunia for example, livebaiting is allowed. move 600 kms further south to the autonomia de murcia, and its illegal.if there is anything on the licence you need clarifiying, stick it up here and i`ll translate it for you.cheers mate.

terry.. i am english, pero llevo un monton de tiempo aqui,y,siento mas espanol que ingles.y tu donde estas en la costa blanca? un saludo! biggrin.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif
